Accessing the 2019 Guideline (3rd edition)
The full Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) includes the evidence-based recommendations and good practice statements, together with implementation considerations, evidence summaries and evidence discussion. The CPG is out of print excepting for legal purposes, but still available as a free download.
The Quick Reference Guide (QRG) is designed for busy health professionals. The QRG is not intended for use in isolation from the CPG but provides a quick summary of the evidence-based recommendations, good practice statements and quality indicators. The QRG is available as a free e-copy.

The methodology was developed and published apriori. The published edition of the Guideline provides an abridged overview of the methods.

2019 Consumer Engagment
The Methodology outlines a full strategy for promoting involvement of stakeholder and consumers. An international survey of patients and their informal caregivers was undertaken to establish information needs and care goal priorities). The survey informed recommendations on goals of care, quality of life, education and self-care and also informed the clinical questions, contributed to Evidence-to-decision Frameworks and informed the Strength of Recommendations.

The EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA does not give approval for use of organization logos or guideline branding on any material for which permission has not been sought in writing. Company advertisements may quote the exact wording of the guideline with proper citation; but should not state or imply EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA endorsement of any specific product.Permission will not be granted for inclusion in any product advertisements.
The EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA does not give approval for reproduction of chapters or significant sections of the guideline, by industry groups for sale or distribution as educational material. The EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA does not endorse any products, materials or educational materials published by industry groups.
The EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA permit replication of chapters or significant sections of the guideline in health facility organization local policy documents with appropriate citation where this falls within use permitted under regional copyright laws (e.g. consider the amount of material being replicated). The following disclaimer statement should accompany the citation: "The use of EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA material does not imply endorsement of products or programs associated with the use of the material."
The EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA permit use of guideline material (e.g. recommendation statements with level of evidence and level of recommendation and explanatory tables for level of evidence/recommendation) with appropriate citation in educational presentations and handouts conducted by health professionals where this falls under acceptable use under regional copyright laws.
The EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA permit reprint with appropriate citation of the guideline recommendations and good practice statements with their accompanying levels of evidence and levels of recommendation in journal or other publications associated with the guideline. Reproduction of explanatory tables for Strengths of Evidence and Strengths of Recommendation must accompany reproduction of recommendations. In general, permission should be sought if planning to reprint one or more chapters of recommendations, good practice statements and/or implementation considerations.
The EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA does not permit reprinting and distribution of the Quick Reference Guide. Discounts for bulk orders are available via the guideline store.

The diagrams from Chapter 13 Repositioning and Early Mobilization of the guideline are copyright EPUAP/NPIAP/PPPIA and available for free download for nonprofit educational purposes. The 2014 NPUAP/EPUAP International Classification System may be reproduced with appropriate citation. When reproducing the classification system, only the text and illustrations should be reproduced. The photographs in the classification system are covered by additional copyright and may not be reproduced without attaining permission from NPIAP. (see 6).
